Surviving the Holidays -- Here is my Plan!


Alright Alright Alright, I've been traveling ... going for a huge goal in my business .. and totally putting myself on the back burner. Yes it happens from time to time but I'm always committed to getting back on track and realizing the issue before it gets out of hand.

I've decided that i'm going to wait on ChaLEAN Extreme until i'm in a more stable place and pull out the 21 Day Fix. My all time favorite workout program. Best of all it's only 21 days long and gets you whipped back into shape QUICKLY!

I've got my meal plan all planned out and have been doing following it this week. I have been sticking with the workout and am excited to just get a normal routine back. Yep, I'm even pulling out my fix portion control containers and measuring out my food again. I will not let the holidays sabotage me. I WILL rock that little black dress come New Years. :)

I know that this plan is totally going to keep on track over these next few weeks, keep me focused, avoid the holiday weight gain, and create that perfect balance that I need. I totally still plan on enjoying the holidays and a portion of the goodies. But I am for sure getting in my workouts, checking in with my challenge groups, drinking my water, and choosing SOME of my favorites instead of all of them. It's all about creating that lifestyle that allows you to still enjoy but also get the results you want. Clean eating is the answer!! Truthfully. 

Here is my meal plan for the week. Lots of good things on there. It's not about depriving yourself or starving. It's about eating whole foods and sticking to the proper portions which the 21 day fix helps you with. It comes with these perfect little portion control containers that takes all the guess work out of everything. Truth be told it's a TON of food you actually get to eat when you are eating the right way.

I share my menu plans every week in my challenge groups and help my challengers lean how to make their own. Clean eating is SO important to me because it's changed my life! Clean Eating Spaghetti and Meatball Recipe - Kid Approved

Healthy, Clean, Quick Kid Approved Spaghetti Recipe


Last night I made the family Spaghetti with Turkey Meatballs and added in a little veggie twist. The girls loved it and ate up every bite. This meal was quick, simple, and healthy. 

I don't make my girls different meals than what I eat, they eat what I eat or don't eat at all. To me it's important for my girls ti know the difference between what's healthy and what's a treat. I quiz them on what foods are healthy. I am ending the trend of obesity at a young age. Of course I let them have their treats and we have pizza and ice-cream nights but that's a treat. Their health is important to me and your kids health should be important to you too. I dare you to try this recipe and see what your kids think. If they are turned off by the veggies in the sauce then blend it up. Guarantee they won't even taste them. 

Ingredients: 
100% Whole Wheat Spaghetti Noodles
2 Cans of Organic Plain Tomato Sauce 
1 Zucchini
2 Whole Carrots
1 Container of Lean Ground Turkey
Italian Seasoning 
Garlic Powder 
Pepper 
1/4 cup oats 


Directions: 

Fill a pot full of water 
Bring to a boil
Place in Noodles 
Drizzle in a little bit of Olive Oil 

Boil and cook until soft 

While the noodles are cooking
Put your Ground Turkey in a bowl 
Mix in seasonings and oats 

Make into meatballs and place in greased warm pan

Let cook for a few mins and the turn over meat balls

While the meat balls are cooking slowly chop up your zucchini into small pieces and your carrots 

Turn down heat on meatballs and pour in cans of sauce. Add in veggies. 

Toss in some more garlic powder and Italian seasonings in the sauce and cover for about 15 -20 mins on low. 

Turn off heat on noodles, drain, and serve!! 

ENJOY! 

I know my kids LOVED this meal!!

Oven "Fried" Chicken Chimichanga

Ingredients:

This makes 6 Chimichangas 

  • 2/3 cup picante sauce or 2/3 cup your favorite salsa
  • teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked chicken breast, chopped
  • cup part skim shredded cheddar cheese
  • green onions, chopped with some tops (about 1/4 cup)
  • 6 (8 inch) Ezekiel wraps or 100% whole wheat wraps. 
  • tablespoons olive oil
  • shredded cheddar cheese, for serving
  • chopped green onion, for serving
  • picante sauce, for serving

Directions:

  1. 1
    Mix chicken, picante sauce or salsa, cumin, oregano, cheese and onions.
  2. 2
    Place about 1/4 cup of the chicken mixture in the center of each tortilla.
  3. 3
    Fold opposite sides over filling.
  4. 4
    Roll up from bottom and place seam-side down on a baking sheet.
  5. 5
    Brush with olive oil
  6. 6
    Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes or until golden.
  7. 7
    Garnish with additional cheese and green onion and serve salsa on the side.

Piyo Week 6 - Meal Plan and Progress Update



Happy Monday!

It's time to get back on track! I've totally been slacking these last few weeks with getting in my workouts and giving my all. So here I am starting FRESH with Week 6 and giving this week my all! My meals will be prepped and ready to go and I know that I'm going to crush this. But even though I totally feel off track and like i'm slacking in the food and workout department I've been getting compliments that I look thinner!! YAY! That's always a win.

Sometimes I put so much work in to my challengers a coaches that I put myself on the back burner. TISK TISK - SO this week i'm MAKING SURE that I give myself that time because I know it's important. I preach all the time about having that "ME" time so time to practice what I Preach!

Piyo Sweat, Piyo Meal Plan and Progress Update

Piyo Sweat has to be one of my favorite workouts because just like it says I SWEAT!! Love a good sweat session. It shows me that It's WORKING! Of course getting new workout clothes always motivates me too. This is a new workout outfit from TJ MAXX - My all time favorite place to shop for my workout gear. Cheap, name brand, and cute! Reward yourself with new workout clothes every time you reach a goal.


I got most of my things to prep for the week but need to go to the grocery story and grab a few things. My husband worked yesterday so this week is a PREP MONDAY! However, I did have my Shakeolgoy for Breakfast and Greek Yogurt for a snack and getting ready to have my salad for lunch. 

Totally going in full force prep mode - Maybe i'll share some pictures with you guys in my next blog post :) 

I know that prepping can be a struggle for a lot of people. It's hard to know exactly what to eat, when to eat it, what to pair it with, and how much to eat. I totally want to help you take the thinking out of it and just DO IT! It really is quite easy once you get the hang of it.

Week 4 Piyo Meal Plan and Progress Update

Alright it's OFFICIALLY Week 5 in the HOUSE ..... I'm excited to get into week 5 and turn up the FIRE!! I'll tell you I went in to this thing not thinking I would get really good results and that it would be too low impact for me. I'm proven WRONG every single week. I really feel my core tightening up and my flexibility and balance getting stronger. For someone who is a runner this is working WONDERS for me. I feel like my runs are easier and my strides are much better. Loving this!

Every workout i'm thinking "was that enough" but the next day i'm always sore and feeling the burn. I know with out a doubt this program is working. I don't really want to lose any weight, just want to tone up, and improve flexibility. 

I know that the heat is about to be turned up this next month and I'm ready!! I know that Chalene Johnson designed this program to give good results. She is trust worthy and she knows her stuff. Her program, TurboFire was the very first program I committed to 2 years ago and I got in the best shape of my life. Her nutrition plans rock and I know she put together a program that is designed PERFECT! I'm trusting the process and pushing through. 

I get a lot of challengers in my groups who don't see results in the first week and decide to just quit. These programs are designed to give you the best results and they have been tested. Trust the process people and KNOW that just because you aren't dripping in sweat, spending hours in a gym, or feeling "it" doesn't mean the results aren't coming. Put all you can in the full 60 days, give it all you got, and the results will COME! Pinky Promise! Don't forget why you started, don't jump to the next thing because it doesn't give you that "quick fix" .... Keep going and I promise the Prize will come with Consistency and Dedication. 

I use to be one of those people that would jump to one fad diet to the next in hopes of getting quick results. The moment I decided to change my eating habits, take before pictures, measurements, and just wake up ever day with the intention to do my best -- The results just CAME! Not over night, Not in ONE day, Two days, Three days, or even a week but OVER TIME!! 

In fact my mind was so screwed up that I didn't even compare my pictures when I did TurboFire because I couldn't SEE the results I didn't believe I had any. It wasn't until I decided to compare Day 1 to that moment that my mind was blown. I'm telling you people .... every single time you choose that healthy meal over fast food, do a workout, and prep your meals for the week, CHANGE IS HAPPENING!! Know that every little bit does matter. 



I can tell you that I totally feel some NON SCALE VICTORIES through this phase. 
I can hold a plank longer than ever, I can do more of the tricep push-ups than I could in the beginning and I am doing a lot more of the advanced moves that I couldn't do in the beginning. Totally seeing the changes little by little -- Day by Day!!

This week I did some Hardcore prepping and I loved it. I felt more focused this week than ever before. It's nothing fancy but it kept me full and satisfied. 

Aspragus and Green beans are the veggies that I don't mind sticking with each and every day so that's what i'm sticking with. Got to find what you love and then just make it happen. 

So here is what I prepped this week: 
Meatloaf Muffins - This recipe made 12. So it was a perfect snack for the week
Roasted Root Melody for my healthy carb 
I made a big batch of Quinoa 
I baked some chicken breasts. This week I'll share my baked chicken recipe. It's YUMMY
I steamed some Asparagus and Green beans. I boiled a pot of water and threw in the asparagus for about 5 minutes and then tossed it in cold water and ice to stop the cooking process. I then topped it with a little salt. I did the same thing with the green beans. First I cut off all the stems and then boiled. 
I also had some mushrooms on hand so I sliced those up and pan sautéed them in siracha hot sauce
and a little light soy sauce. So good. Then I just put it over my veggies.
Then I took my strawberries, blackberries, and blue berries, sliced it all up and threw it in a Tupperware and a little lemon juice. 
This was perfect for my greek yogurt for my am snack.

The 21 Day Fix Weekly Meal Plan

Happy Saturday!! It's Saturday afternoon here in Hawaii Time and I'm already started to think about a NEW WEEK!! A new week means a new chance to make things right. BUT why do we even let it go this way? Why do we start every week strong with a new mind set but by Wednesday we are already telling ourselves "next week". We didn't have the chance to prep our meals that week, we are having some serious cravings by the end of the night, that pizza that tempted you WON. 
You beat your self up about it, put yourself down, promise tomorrow - When tomorrow comes you mess up again and then just go ahead and tell yourself MONDAY it is. Next week will be Better! 

You are NOT alone - I've DONE this SO many times!! 

The thing that I've come to FIND is that I don't have to do this anymore. I have my amazing challengers, the daily support needed, and at the end of the month I know that I'm going to share my progress. Unless you truly aren't ready mentally and physically to take on the challenge of bettering your life then YOU WILL SUCCEED.

When you surround yourself around other people who have the same EXCUSES as you, it becomes much easier to CRUSH them and realize that you DO have time to make this happen and you aren't going to let everyone see you fall. I love that I get to wake up every day and surround myself with other like minded people who have dishes in their sink, kids to take care of, dinner to fix, a house to clean, and maybe even a full time job to go to. We NO LONGER let these excuses overtake our life and GIVE OURSELVES 30 minutes everyday to work on ourselves. We feel EMPOWERED by every workout we are able to cross off the calendar and by every HEALTHY choice we are able to make. At the end of the day we report in the group how AWESOME we did and if we failed we spill are hearts and are uplifted by others. The problem with not having this support is you ALLOW these EXCUSES to be a REASON you aren't successful.

If you DO THIS ... Guess what - YOU ARE NORMAL!! Don't let your kids be your EXCUSE let them be your REASON!! It's time to DRAW THE LINE and CUT THE CRAP! It's okay to put aside a little bit of time for yourself. YOU ARE WORTH IT. You aren't being selfish you are leading your family to health and well being. You are setting an EXAMPLE that they can follow. You will have more energy then you EVER have to keep up with all the craziness of LIFE in general. 



Your time is NOW!! Grab YO running shoes, tie up those laces, get your workout gear on, and grab the workout gear because SUMMER IS COMING - READY OR NOT!! 
Are you ready!! Are you TRULY ready to let go of all of your excuses and finally DO THIS!!?!? 
No more coverups, no more feeling horrible about yourself, not wanting to run into anyone at the store because you are ashamed ... It's time to CHANGE your FUTURE! I've been where you have and my goal is to help each and every person so that they NEVER have to feel that way again.

30 Minute Workouts 6 days a week 
You are setting your alarm for 5am - YEP I SAID IT!! 
This is the time that I have found that allows me to always get my workout done and leaves me with the least distractions. 
Every Sunday you are going to plan out your meals for the week just like I have below. You will use the 21 day nutrition guide to plan out your meals and any recipes from my blog and create a grocery list. Either that or you can use the one that I provide you in the group. I find it's better to start creating your own so you can get exactly what kind of food you like and learn how to do it on your own. 
After you grocery shop - It's time to PREP!! This totally makes a HUGE difference. 
Take time to cut up veggies, fruit, bake chicken for the week, and bag everything up. Then you are ready to just open up the fridge and go. Life becomes SIMPLE.

The 21 Day Fix, 3 Day Quick Fix

I am truly IN LOVE with the 21 day fix. It's an amazing program that offers AMAZING results!! I committed to doing the 3 day fix with friends before starting the program to jump start our success. It suggested doing it your last 3 days and I totally agree with this option. It will totally give you those killer after pictures. When starting the 3 day fix, I'll be honest I wasn't excited to live off of protein and steamed veggies the next 3 days but honestly it wasn't that bad. I actually began to enjoy the food the better I felt. I simply felt AMAZING. I have always had stomach issues and it's always been sensitive to greasy and rich foods. During this entire 3 days I felt refreshed, light, and clean. I had no bloat and just felt down right amazing. 

I feel like once the fix was introduced to my life, I finally found the missing piece of the equation. 

Yes - I'm a clean eater
Yes- I workout daily 

Was I using the proper portions of each food group .. Probably not! 

I have now figured out the in's and outs of my nutrition and truly feel like I have a handle on it. 
The 3 day fix is a plan I will definitely be doing over the summer to get swim suit ready before beach days and pool days. You can do anything in 3 days. I love that fact that you aren't starving yourself but actually are increasing the amount of food that you eat. I wasn't once hungry.

This is a plan that Autumn Calabrese (creator of the 21 day fix) uses to prep for her bikini competitions and photo shoots.  It's not something you want to do for any longer than 3 days, but if done occasionally , its a great way to lose a little weight, fast.

I will not lie the 3 day fix is a little challenging and I completely missed my Shakeology, fruit, and carbs. I love carbs and the fact that I had to limit it to only in the morning killed me but I made sure I drank plenty of water and chowed down on my veggies and protein. I totally used my will power and pushed through. 


3 day plan, 3 day quick fix, 21 day fix, marlena hedine, tone up

Here are the details:
  • Space your meals approximately two hours apart.  Set a time on your phone to remind you to eat if you have to.
  • Steamed veggie options recommended are broccoli, asparagus, green beans, zucchini, cucumbers or bell peppers.
  • Seasonings allowed are lemon and lime juice, vinegars, and spices.  No SALT
  • Oatmeal can be flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg, or one packet (1/2 teaspoon) of stevia.
  • Drink at least one gallon of water a day. Spread it out as much as possible starting with a glass when you first wake up.  It will help you feel full while it flushes toxins from your system.  
  • Drink the extra virgin coconut oil with meals.  To prepare it, place the desired amount in a microwave safe bowl and zap for 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Coffee or tea is ok to drink, but avoid creamers and sweeteners except stevia.  
  • No need to alter your workouts, the 3 day quick fix can be used anytime! It is also recommended during the last 3 days and only 3 days of the program for maximum results.
The PLAN:

Meal 1:  (YELLOW) Steel cut oatmeal (cooked) (RED) Egg whites and 1 spoon of E.V. coconut oil.
Meal 2:  1 (RED) grilled chicken and 1 (YELLOW) steamed yams
Meal 3:  1 (RED) steamed fish and 1(GREEN) steamed veggies
Meal 4:  1 (RED) grilled chicken and 1 (GREEN) steamed veggies and 1 spoon of E.V. coconut oil.
Meal 5:  1 (RED) Steamed fish and 1 (GREEN) steamed veggies and 1 spoon of E.V. coconut oil.
Meal 6:  1 (RED) ground extra lean turkey 1 (GREEN) steamed veggies and 1 spoon of E.V. Coconut oil.

Repeat for 3 days!  Drink lots of water and NO SALT!!

YEP ... It's #transformation tuesday people!! That means it's time to take a look at how all my 21 day fix challenge groups are doing and share with you some of their results. At one point I had about 4 Fix challenge groups going and ROCKING it out!! I love this program and it's totally changed so many of my challengers lives. It's crazy how much your body can change and respond in only 21 days when you are using portion control and clean eating. I think that most people think of when they hear the 21 day fix is "oh, that's just a QUICK FIX" well answer is NO. The principals taught in this program are principals you will always keep with you. You are being taught proper portion control and also gives you a variety of food to choose from to form balanced meals that your whole family will love. I make chicken and shrimp stir fry that the entire family loves, grilled fish, turkey burgers with sweet potatoes but am able to give myself the correct portions. I can even have my properly portioned wine. I love how EASY it is and it really is a great tool for anyone that is in need of some serious guidance in clean eating or wanting to learn how to use portion control.

I seriously love Autumns workouts!! They totally keep me engaged, excited every time, and I am literally spent after most workouts. It really is a great workout in the amount of time you are given. There are all different levels to follow so that this program can really work for everyone. 

So how do people get such great results with this program !?!? Well when you combine a whole body workout program and a great nutrition plan PLUS the support/encouragement from my challenge groups you get amazing SUCESS!! I have some customers that have been in my challenge groups for at least 6 months lost 50 pounds but were stuck and weren't seeing results. Something had to change, and as soon as they started the fix ... BOOM 10 pounds lost! It seriously is great for getting out of those plateau's. I am seeing customers totally change their lifestyle, learn how to prep their meals, and really learn about proper nutrition. I enjoy the pictures they post daily and it really gives me chills to see how amazing this program is working for others. I got the chance to tell Autumn personally on the Success Club Trip how amazing her program has been working for my customers. My challengers don't just quit at day 21 most of them are doing it over and over again or pairing the nutrition plan up with other workout programs. It's really where their weight loss and healthy journey is beginning.

Michelle Collins 21 Day Fix Results 

This transformation above is proof that just because these scale doesn't move does NOT mean that you aren't getting results. Michelle actually gained 3 pounds but lost inches obviously. Throw that scale away and realize that you are replacing muscle with fat and it weighs more!

I'm proud to say on my 21 day fix I lost 7.6lbs and 7" total!! Stoked!!!

This lady above totally motivated the entire group and made amazing progress. I loved the meals that she posted and what she had to share with the group. She posted her accountability pictures and shared with us how she put her meals together. Here is an example below.

Lunchtime!! Spinach, cherry toms, baby carrots, a fresh beet, a splash of yellow sweet pepper (3 green), feta cheese (1blue), baked chicken (recipe in the book, page 49- 1 red), and balsamic vinaigrette (page 56 and is delicious - 1 orange). Bon appetite! Oh and water! - Dede H

Each of these challengers committed to following the 21 Day program using the nutrition plan, workout plan, and replacing one meal a day with Shakeology. Most of my challengers decided on doing another round of The 21 Day Fix or have decide to use the Fix nutrition plan and start a new Beachbody program. 

Super excited for them to continue their journey.
