So I totally know it's that crazy time of year where the kids are back in school and fall sports are back up and running. BUT thank goodness the prep is over and everything is slowing down and going back to norm. We are finding our routines and it's time to relax a little (maybe a tiny bit? LOL)
So fall is totally the time of year where we are going to football parties, comfort food, pumpkin spice EVERYTHING, pumpkin patches, and skinny jeans. Since I live in Hawaii I don't really get the fall leaves smell, the snow, or the sweaters and scarfs :) I totally get how easy it is to fall back into your old ways when it's time to put the baiting suits, tank tops, and shorts away. I know that normally during the fall, family becomes top priority and you aren't so worried about reaching your fitness goals.
So over the last 2 years, this is one thing I have stuck with. TAKING CARE OF ME! I was sick of starting over every january with the same ol' resolution. I've also realized that not only is eating clean and exercising good for meeting my weight goals but it makes me a better person. I function better, I have more energy, I feel better about myself, and I'm in a better mood. If I skip a workout I'm in a cruddy mood the whole day. It's my stress release and my ME time. When my close began to get tight I felt gross and defeated, it put me in the worst mood. It just keeps getting worse from there. Once you loose that focus, it's so hard to get back up. I know because I use to be that way!! I can 100% relate! It's no fun! Since becoming a Beachbody Coach I've been able to stay on track just by surrounding myself with positive people and daily encouragement. I also am able to give out daily motivation and encouragement. It totally keeps me going on those days I feel like giving up!

How does Marlena Hedine keep herself entertained during Meal Prep!?!? Yep, you got that right ... I find a show i'm addicted to or a book and focus on that. It totally is MY TIME, where i'm able to get my self ready for the week, cook all my meals, and just relax. Plus, knowing that I i'm doing something productive and getting to catch up on some shows totally gets my butt off the couch and into the kitchen to spend those few hours. So, if you are looking for a way to MAKE yourself prep each week .. this is totally the way to go. Get Netflix on your lap top and stream your guilty pleasures.
I'm already all caught up on "Carrie the High school Days", "Revenge", and a few other favorites so I started watching this show and It's okay. Not my favorite but I was able to get into it a bit. It's not a I can't live with out show but kept me entertained. I've heard Breaking Bad is good so I may start that one this Sunday during Prepping time.
I've been slacking on the meal planning lately to be honest. I've been busy with my challengers and coaches on my team that I haven't been taking the time out to work on myself and keep myself in check. So I knew it was time to put my foot down and take care of myself. Feels so good to have a yummy lunch already portioned out and ready for me in the fridge. Totally delicious. I know you will feel the same way if you can just take the time out each week to do something GOOD for yourself and family that is going to keep you on track. I know it's hard for busy Momma's to step aside and do anything for themselves but I promise you it's worth it and it will actually make your week less stressful and you will end up spending less at the grocery store.
So here is my meal plan for the week. I laid it all out so that it's set and ready to go.
I normally do all my batch cooking on Sundays but this week I had so much going on that i wasn't able to get it in till Wednesday during the day. To be honest, I was going crazy with out my meal plan. It was much harder to stay on track.
Once everything was done I portioned it out and put in individual containers I could just grab and warm up. Someone asked me what fish tasted like warmed up and honestly it taste just as good. Delish!! I really enjoyed my lunch today and felt spoiled. It was an amazing meal. Asparagus was perfect, Quinoa felt like comfort food. If you have never had Quinoa you should try it. It's like rice but is so much better for you. Packed full of protein and minerals. It's a POWER HOUSE FOOD!
Working on Portion Control!?!? This should help!! The 21 Day Fix is also great for teaching you all about that if you need more help with meal planning and prepping.
I then got my snacks ready to go for the week by portioning those out in little baggies. I portioned out a big handful of carrots in each little baggy and plan on having that with 2 tbsp of hummus for a PM snack. It's easier for me just to have the same snacks pretty much every day and it honestly doesn't bug me. If I get bored i'll switch it up. But for now it works for me. I've been eating this snack for a year now. I also grabbed big honey crisp apple (yummmm) and portioned out 14 almonds into a baggy for an am snack. Some other snacks I plan on having is PB toast (whole wheat of course and all natural) and plain yogurt with a bit of honey and blackberries. But it is all portioned out and ready to go in my fridge so I can just easily grab. I have some quest bars or easy grabbing as well.
Breakfast is super easy and a no brainer for me and the hubby. We both drink Shakeology!! I shake it up with 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup almond milk and ice! Easy Peasy!! I love that I don't even have to think about it that's it's a perfect meal that is ready to go. I'll have that with a cup of coffee with a little bit of almond milk
I plan on making Turkey Burgers and roasted sweet potato fries for dinner tonight over a bed of spinach topped with avocados so I'll make some extra for lunches if I want to switch it up a bit. My girls also eat this for lunch.
I have all my dinners planned for the week, grocery shopping done, and i'm confident for the rest of the week. My goal is to really push hard in my workouts, drink m daily amount of water, and stay on track with my meal plan so I can really rock my results and feel GREAT! It's not just about having a nice body but feeling good. When I eat bad I feel sluggish and literally crud. Tummy aches and bloat.
I really really love carbs so the fact that I have this all portioned out and I can't just grab a tortilla with PB for every meal (because I totally would) is the way I want it. I have a cruise coming up and I want to feel great in my Bikini. It's all about feeling CONFIDENT! Who doesn't want to feel this way!?!? It's worth it!

I almost can't believe it but half of January is already GONE and Valentines is on it's way. If this year is anything like last year, it's going to FLY by. I just got back from spending a month with my family in Texas and had a wonderful time. It was one of the best Christmas's ever! Our whole family was able to be together at my aunt and uncles lake house. But it's officially over and I have so much to be thankful for in 2013. I can't wait to bring in 2014 even stronger. I am thinking and brainstorming of ways that I can make my challenge groups even BETTER and give even more to help others achieve their goals. I'm putting together new and improved groups this year and excited for all my new challengers!! We aren't playing around this year. So, I am INVITING YOU to be apart of this new system!!
What is a health and fitness challenge!?
It's a program that I've created to help you achieve all of your health and fitness goals by receiving daily motivation, accountability, and support through a closed online group. This year will NOT be the year that you are WISHING you started LAST MONDAY, WISH your close Fit better, or HATE SHOPPING! You will learn to be CONFIDENT, LOVE YOUR BODY, & BE HEALTHY! This year you will be making your New Years Resolution and STICKING TO IT! We always start out strong DAY ONE of the New Year !! We eat healthy all week long, go to the gym every single day, and stay on track for the first few weeks. After the excitement of reaching your goals has died down you slowly fall back into your old ways. You eat less healthy meals and do less workouts. Excuses being to creep in and you just decide that it's not worth it - YOU ARE NOT WORTH IT and it's TOO good to be TRUE!
How do I know this!?! Because year after year after YEAR .. this was me!!! <----
I would sign up for an expensive gym membership, personal training sessions, and online nutrition programs. I started out strong the first few weeks and then decided that I just couldn't do it. It all became overwhelming. I would go to classes at the gym every now and then but excuses would always win because I just didn't see the results I was hoping for.
So here is where I come in and where I say - THIS YEAR WILL BE DIFFERENT FOR YOU! I'm not going to let you make the same mistakes I did for years and years for ANOTHER YEAR! Definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
It's time for a change!! I truly LOVE Beachbody because it takes the guess work out of everything. For years I struggled on the question of if I was really doing it right. Was I doing the right workouts, was I eating the right things, and was I doing enough. WIth this you don't have to think about anything. IT's all given to you. There are so many programs to meet all needs and likes. If you like high intensity cardio and dancing there is something for you!! If you like boot camp style, we got that. If you want short and sweet, we have that too. If you are looking for a beginner level program to just get you started, YEP, got that too. All you do is press play and follow the trainer. They give you a schedule of workouts that will give you the best possible results. No matter what you are looking for I know that I can find your SOUL MATE workout and hook you up with something you will LOVE!
The part that most people struggle with is the nutrition part of the plan. 80% of your results come from nutrition. Abs are made in the kitchen. Nutrition was always the part that confused me and would get frustrated because I couldn't figure out just exactly what I needed to eat and would just give up. There are so many "diets" "quick fixes" and meals that claim to be healthy but really aren't. I lived in Smart One frozen meals, healthy choice meals, and light versions of the real thing. This is what MOST of us fuel our body with, boxed meals that claim to be low on calories but what they mask is the high sodium and non nutritional value they contain. I would workout like crazy doing tons of cardio but could never get the results I wanted because I didn't have that perfect balance. Something needed to change and that is when I decide to look up clean eating. The moment I changed my diet, meal planned, and embraced the lifestyle of eating clean, EVERYTHING CHANGED! I felt better, had more energy, lost weight, had more definition, and was loosing weight. I could actually EAT instead of live on one slim fast a day and a salad. Since that day that I decided to change my goal has been to share this knowledge with others and show you that you don't have to starve to get the results you want and teach people how to eat clean and create their own weekly meal plans.

The last part of this equation is Shakeology. It's not a weight loss shake but it's a total meal replacement shake. It's not a protein shake but a well balanced meal that is equivalent to 6 salads in one glass. I use to be hungry all the time because I wasn't fueling my body with the proper nutrition. It's now the one thing that keeps me full, tastes so YUMMY, and has saved me so many times from making bad decisions. When I craved something bad, was on the go, or didn't have time to make a meal .. So my half marathon has been over for awhile and I have found myself struggling to get back into a routine and finding exactly what programs I wanted to start and where I want to go with my fitness schedule. I've decided that I want to have the weights of Body Pump but I want the mix the amazing T25 Cardio. Fast but effective!! I did half of T25 before I started my Half Marathon Training but I wasn't able to finish since I had to focus on my running. So this week I decided to start my Hybrid Schedule and so far I'm on day 4 and I'm SORE!!!
I found this Advanced and Beginner Hybrid Schedule and I'm following the Advanced one unless it gets too hard! :)

Les Mills Pump seriously gives amazing muscles and results. I'm looking for a transformation in my booty area, hips, and arms! I wouldn't mind some toning in the tummy too. I'm planning on really focusing on my diet and getting great results. I'm thankful that I have a huge Holiday Meltdown Challenge group with over 40 ladies that I'm running to keep me accountable during these tough holiday months.
I also have watched my Challengers get AMAZING results with T25 so I'm excited to finally finish it!!
This is what they had to say when I ran my T25 Test Group. The results were AMAZING!! I'm so impressed by this brand new program. I think it's amazing how much you can get done in 25 minutes / 5 days a week.
I have my meal plan ready to go, meals prepped and it's been a great week so far!! The thing that most people don't know is that nutrition is 80% of your results. If you don't have the proper nutrition and fuel while doing these programs you won't get the results you desire. It's important to eat 5-6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism running.

I'm not a huge calorie counter I focus on Eating Clean and portioning out my food. This way is the way to GO! I use to be a calorie counter! I've tried crash diets, pills, starvation and I promise that eating clean and portioning your food WORKS. I've been doing it the last year and have maintained my happy and healthy lifestyle following these principals. I have lost 35 pounds and have kept it off.
Some Important things to consider:
A Serving of Lean Protein & Complex Carb at each Meal
DRINK WATER... Lots of it!
Stay away from anything processed and pre packaged food.
Limit your servings of Dairy and good healthy fats like Avocados, Nuts, & Olive Oil
Aim to drink 1/2 your body weight in water so you can stay hydrated and beat the bloat.

Hello All!! Can you believe it's MARCH Already!?!?!? I seriously feel like time is going by just way to fast. Wasn't it just January 1st and we were all brining in the New Year together? Where did these last 2 months go? Let's slow them down a bit because I have little ones and I want to keep them little FOREVER. Okay, I know that's not possible but SERIOUSLY! It's breaking my heart. It's true when they say as you get older the years go by faster. It seems like when I was younger time went by so SLOW!
I am SO excited for my current challengers though .. as the time passes they are seeing AWESOME results. Gives me an amazing sense of accomplishment and I'm so overjoyed for all the hard work they have put in. Its already been nearly 60 days into 2013 and My first Challenge Group has only 30 days left of their 12 week Journey. YIKES! I have chills thinking about how far they have come. I'm proud to say that one of my challengers lost 22lbs in 60 days!! How stinkin' amazing is that! 22 WHOLE POUNDS & now fitting into a size 4. It's just AWESOME!

I know that it takes time and sometimes we don't see the transformations as quickly as we would like but you just need to have faith in the process because - I would NOT steer you wrong. I've been there!! The neat thing about this process is I have been in the same exact spot as all of my challengers. I too went through the 12 week change!! It took 4 weeks for me to get my routine in order ( HA, which was pretty tough since during my challenge I was traveling all over the country, LITERALLY! .. I'm talking Australia, Texas, Minnesota, Hawaii) BAM! No excuses here I DID IT! It takes 6 weeks to really notice that your body is changing, and it takes the whole 12 weeks for other to start seeing the changes. 12 weeks will flash in a blink of an eye & i'm not telling you that you are going to be perfect through the process - I wasn't!! But I am going to tell you that those times that you fall straight on your face are the most important lessons you can learn & what you do from that point is what's going to control your DESTINY & TRANSFORMATION! You can do what you have always done - & just give up! OR you can get up, whip yourself off .. Learn from your mistakes, & KEEP GOING! SO if you are ready to GET GOING ... Lets do it!! Start NOW!
Let me tell you - I fell on my face more then once. I started my journey ATTEMPTING INSANITY about 4 months after having my youngest baby girl. YEA! I hated it ... Fell on my face. But that didn't stop me. I completed month one and saw a small progress. I wasn't eating clean & I wasn't drinking Shakeology. So I decided I was ready to really DO THIS! I saw others transformations. I saw that lives were changing and I wanted some of that. So I committed to TurboFire and added in Shakeology! BOOM! Results were starting to happen. I remember the exact feelings that I felt. I would cry because all the jeans in my closet were too small. I had nothing to wear and I couldn't believe how much weight I had gained. This transformation didn't happen over night. I wasn't an over night success. There isn't a magic pill that you can take and wake up skinny. It takes time and consistency. But if you really want it bad enough, YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT !!
